  56. INSTALLING SecurDesk!
  57. ------------------------------

  59. Before you can begin using SecurDesk! you must run its
  60. Setup program from Windows. In most cases you cannot simply copy
  61. the software onto your hard drive. The files on the CursorArts
  62. distribution disks are stored in a special compressed form to
  63. save space. The Setup program is the only way to insure that
  64. SecurDesk! is properly unpacked and installed. To install
  65. SecurDesk!, follow the steps below:
  66.  
  67. 1.  Start Windows.
  68.  
  69. 2.  If you received SecurDesk! on diskette, place it into
  70.     the floppy drive now. If you downloaded SecurDesk! in
  71.     archived format, use PKUNZIP to uncompress the files to a
  72.     working directory on your hard disk.
  73.  
  74. 3.  Activate the Windows Program Manager or Explorer.
  75.  
  76. 4.  Select "Run..." from the "Start" menu.
  77.  
  78. 5.  In the "Command Line" field enter one of the following:
  79.  
  80.       -  If you placed the SecurDesk! diskette into drive
  81.          A:, type: A:\SETUP
  82.  
  83.       -  If you placed the SecurDesk! diskette into drive
  84.          B:, type: B:\SETUP
  85.  
  86.       -  If you downloaded SecurDesk!, type:
  87.          C:\DIRNAME\SETUP (Remember to replace DIRNAME with the name
  88.          of the directory where you uncompressed SecurDesk!'s files.)

  90. 6.  Follow the instructions on the screen.

  94. UNINSTALLING / REMOVING FROM YOUR SYSTEM
  95. ----------------------------------------
  96. If you decide that you no longer wish to use SecurDesk!, or if you
  97. decide not to use SecurDesk! beyond the 30-day evaluation period,
  98. you need only to use the UNINSTAL.EXE program placed in SecurDesk!'s
  99. directory folder to remove its files from your system.

  101. To remove any shortcuts to SecurDesk! which you may have placed on
  102. your Windows desktop, simply delete these by highlighting the link
  103. icon and pressing your Delete key. To remove shortcuts on the
  104. Windows Start menu, use your file manager to delete the SECUREDESK
  105. directory folder which is located inside the
  106. \WINDOWS\START MENU\PROGRAMS folder.

  229. Your use of SecurDesk! is governed by a License which appears before
  230. you install SecurDesk! and below. When you purchase SecurDesk!, you will
  231. receive a separate license for use beyond the 30-day evaluation period
  232. and a limited warranty. Please read the license before you use

  236. SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT

  238. This SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT is a legal agreement between you
  239. (either an individual or other legal entity) and CursorArts Company By
  240. installing the software and/or using the software, you are agreeing
  241. to be bound by the terms of this agreement. If you do not agree to
  242. the terms of this agreement, do not proceed to install or use the
  243. software and immediately erase or destroy any copies of the software
  244. which you may have.

  246. 1. Grant of License
  247. This license permits you to use one copy of the included CursorArts
  248. software (the "SOFTWARE") on one, single-user computer system for a
  249. period not to exceed 30 days from your first use of the SOFTWARE.
  250. The SOFTWARE is in use when it is installed into that computer
  251. system's permanent memory (e.g., on a hard disk or other storage
  252. device) or when it is loaded into temporary memory (i.e., RAM). If
  253. you wish to use the software beyond the 30 day period, you must first
  254. obtain the full version of this SOFTWARE from CursorArts or one of
  255. its authorized dealers, which includes a license to use the SOFTWARE
  256. beyond 30 days.

  258. 2. Copyrights and Trademarks
  259. The SOFTWARE and its accompanying documentation and other materials
  260. are protected by U.S. and international copyright laws and treaties.
  261. The SOFTWARE is like any other copyrighted material (such as a book or
  262. motion picture) and may not be reproduced or distributed, except that
  263. you may (a) transfer the SOFTWARE to a single hard disk drive provided
  264. you keep the original solely for archival or backup purposes, (b) make
  265. one copy of the SOFTWARE on removable media (such as a diskette)
  266. solely for archival or backup purposes, or (c) provide copies of the
  267. SOFTWARE to personal acquaintances or family members to allow such
  268. persons to evaluate the program for up to 30 days. You may not charge
  269. for or sell any copy which you distribute, without the express, prior
  270. agreement of CursorArts Company. You may not duplicate or transmit any
  271. portion of any manual, labels, packaging, serial numbers, Product
  272. Registration Card, or related printed information included with the
  273. SOFTWARE. You may not make any modifications or changes to the SOFTWARE.
  274. You may not delete any of the files contained in the SOFTWARE. You may
  275. not decompile, disassemble, or otherwise reverse-engineer the SOFTWARE.
  276. You may not sublicense, rent, lend, lease, donate, sell, load, pledge,
  277. transfer or distribute on a temporary or permanent basis the original
  278. or backup copies of the SOFTWARE or the documentation accompanying the
  279. SOFTWARE to any other individual or company. IconForge, pc/Recall,
  280. SecurDesk!, FileWrangler and CursorArts are trademarks of CursorArts
  281. Company. All other brand and product names mentioned in conjunction
  282. with the SOFTWARE are trademarks or registered trademarks of their
  283. respective owners.

  285. 3. Limited Warranty on Software
  286. CursorArts warrants only the physical diskette(s) which it has
  287. manufactured to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for a
  288. period of thirty (30) days from the date of receipt. In the event
  289. CursorArts receives written notice from you of defects in materials and
  290. workmanship within the warranty period, CursorArts will replace the
  291. defective diskette(s). Diskettes must be returned to: CursorArts Company,
  292. Customer Services, P.O. Box 1379, Bend, OR 97709-1379. The remedy for
  293. breach of this limited warranty shall be limited to replacement of
  294. diskettes and shall not include any other damages. The publisher makes
  295. no warranty concerning the function or fitness of any programs
  296. reproduced on this disk. Neither CursorArts Company, nor its authorized
  297. agents shall be liable for consequential, special, indirect, or other
  298. similar damages or claims, including loss of profits or any other
  299. commercial damages, and in no event will the liability for damages to
  300. you or any other person ever exceed the price paid for the license to
  301. use the software, regardless of any form of the claim. CursorArts Company
  302. specifically disclaims all other warranties, expressed or implied,
  303. including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability and
  304. fitness for a particular purpose.
